Designing Your Family Entertainment Room

Nowadays, more and more people are turning their family rooms into theatre and entertainment areas where they can watch movies and television. If you want to do this as well, just keep in mind that with careful planning and research, you can achieve really good results.

Create a floor plan of the room that you are planning to use as the entertainment room. Outline how the furniture is going to be positioned and where the equipment will be placed. Install all the needed wirings for the surround sound, television, cable and other electronic devices. Just make sure that the speakers are set up properly around the area to deliver the best sound effect and quality. Next, connect all supports for your television and speakers on the walls by using brackets. Install lighting around the room. It is better if you have lights that can be adjusted to different levels. Put a main light in the centre or back of the room, and set up the dimmer ones on each side.

Afterwards, position your furniture centrally to allow people to face the television and be near enough for conversation. Put some accent pieces near the main seating such as end tables, and stools to hold remotes, drinks and finger foods. Consider placing media storage shelves as well near the television to hold viewing materials. In addition, put accent paintings, accessories and devices in the room to personalise its atmosphere. Lastly, make sure that all electronics are set up correctly inside the room and the sound is at its best.
